My Memories ....

Sending my Late condolences to the family . . . , My ex-husband and I painted Capt.Russell and Mary's house., 1995?? . and we spent a few other days, just visiting with them. Loved the tales that the Capt had to tell, but Mary and I had the genealogy interests that had us spend some other time together. She worked at the Kennebunkport Historical Society (back when it was FREE to go to!) and she showed me records and such. It was likely Mary that told me about the John Clough Society that met at the church by the Arundel Graveyard. It's been almost 20 years since these meetings so I can't furnish more details.. Just want to say that it was a pleasure to know them both, very sweet and loving couple that shared their time and knowledge with us / me. . As someone else mentioned, they did have carpets down, on the lawn (kept the grass from growing so much and less need for mowing!!), and he had put up tea kettles and interesting finds, on the trees. . He had cut some of the trees 1/2 way down, as they would be used for fire wood, in the future years. Last time I saw Mary, was maybe 2005, when she was walking back from Bradbury's Market. I wish I'd stopped for longer and helped her out.. . She was definitely a feisty woman.. I mean that in a good way! Nancy (I have pictures somewhere.!?) .
