Condolences

Condolence From: John White
Condolence: I got the news of Russ this week and wish I could be in Wells, in-person, to give a hug to all of you. As I think of (Russ) Mr. Fox, I keep seeming to recall his low voice and talking to me out of the corner of his mouth..."Hey, John...dating anyone yet?" Many nice memories of being over at Kevin and Brian's, in the early to mid-80s: Russ (and Lillian) would drive us everywhere (to the rec, to play basketball or football), to Kennebunk to go to the driving range, Babe Ruth baseball games, etc. (David and Laurie was just little kids then). One summer, we got a puppy from a litter that they had. Russ loved his old dogs, "Sandy" and "Pepper." Thinking of him this week, I also remember him serving in the St. Mary's Choir. It seems like he did that for a while--and really piped it up! He was always calm and pleasant to be around. I hope you are all doing well and please know that your Dad (husband) is an important part of many of our memories! -John "Jay" White

Condolence From: Bob Kon
Condolence: I was kindergarten age plus or minus a year when I discovered that 3 new kids my age had moved in around the corner and down the street from our house. We met at their house as I was walking around the block and older brother, Bob, made me wrestle each of them. The results were mixed, but we always were pals and I did this with one, that with another and so on. Their personalities were all different and I think it safe to say, Russ was the outgoingest of them all. However, I don’t think he participated in the pipe smoking that Don and I did under their back porch. I know Russ generally managed to have jobs as a teenager. I think he worked at the theater, at Loblaws grocery store and later had a paper route. He was just a naturally likeable guy and I am very sorry for the loss that all of his family must be feeling and I salute him for his positive attitude going into his final struggle.

Condolence From: Bill and Sonnie Robb
Condolence: Russ was a great friend. He and I fished together in Oswego where we'd walk for miles to fish in Nine Mile Point Creek. We also fished from the shore of Lake Ontario - always wishing we had a boat. Russ would stay with me at my parents' cottage on Lake Ontario and he always came with his mother's delicious chocolate cake. We shoveled walks together for a job and I always appreciated that he passed on to me his Palladium Times paper route, the best in Oswego. Thanks, Russ for being my friend, for creating fond memories together and may you rest in peace.
