Obituary for Donna Duffill Schwietering (Duffill)

Donna Duffill Schwietering, 73 years, of Portland, died Monday evening, September 4 . 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family in a room decorated for her favorite holiday, Christmas.

Donna was born July 9, 1944 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Herbert and Eunice (Clark) Duffill, Jr. She graduated from Sanford High School and went on to further her education at Westbrook Junior College. She was the Administrative Secretary at Kaler School in South Portland. On June 25, 1994 she married her husband William ‘Bill’ Schwietering.

Donna loved animals, nature and gardening, and enjoyed travelling and camping as well. Most importantly, Donna loved spending time with Bill, her family and friends.

Donna is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill; her son, Ron Gabree, II and his wife Stephanie of North Windham along with their children, Simon and Stuart; her step daughter, Marjorie Schwietering of Lisbon, ME; and her sisters, Pat Kimball and her husband Bruce of Kennebunk and their children, Holy Pepin and Brian Kimball and their spouses; and Judith Collette and her husband, Normand, of Kennebunk and their children Scott Collette and Tammy Dube and their spouses.

Friends and family may visit from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A memorial service will follow immediately at noon at Bibber Memorial Chapel with Rev. Burton S. Howe leading the celebration of Donna’s life. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.
