Obituary for Maxine Ruth Stevens (Klimper)

Kennebunkport
Maxine R. Stevens, 81 years, of Arundel, passed away November 5, 2018 at St. Andre Health Care in Biddeford.
Maxine was born on March 29, 1937 in Malta, Phillips County, Montana. She was the daughter of Max and Dorothy (Whitcomb) Klimper. Maxine’s family owned one of the most famous gold mines in the State of Montana’s history. Their story has been documented in the book “Top O’ The Mountain” by Gladys Costello and Dorothy Whitcomb Klimper. She was one of eight students who graduated from Outlook High School in 1955. On March 3, 1957, Maxine married George Stevens, Jr. and together they lived in Arundel. Maxine worked for the Kennebunk School Department as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program. Maxine had a great, friendly, humorous personality and was known by many as ‘Nana’.
Maxine enjoyed playing games with others, especially Yatzee and Kismet. She was very creative and enjoyed decorating and sewing. Most importantly, she loved her family and friends and working with the children in the Kennebunk School District. She made many close friends throughout her journey in life. She especially loved celebrating Christmas with her family and showing her collection of Santa Clauses.
Maxine was predeceased by her husband, George and by her brothers, Charles and Louis Klimper. She was also predeceased by her son, Richard Stevens and by her sister Kathleen “Kay” Larum.
Maxine is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rebecca Stevens-Paradis and her husband Kevin of Kennebunkport and Rachel Savage of Biddeford; her sons, Robert Stevens and his wife Kelly of Lyman and Ryan Stevens of Gilford, NH; her sisters Dorothy Malisani and Marlene Klimper; her sister in law Carol Moran and the Moran family; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
