Michael Jon LaCroix, 71, of Portsmouth NH and Bend OR, died suddenly September 10, 2019 in Kennebunk ME of natural causes.

Michael was born February 28, 1948 in Spencer MA, the son of Wilbur A. and Eleanor Ann LeTendre. He attended the University of Lowell, and graduated from Wentworth University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mike was employed with several companies including Raytheon, Digital, and Hewlett-Packard. He took early retirement from Hewlett-Packard so he could pursue his other interests in life.

A ‘renaissance’ man, through and through, Mike held many interests and excelled at most of them. Throughout his life, he enjoyed tinkering and taking ideas to fruition. He obtained two patents for his inventions. One was for a motorcycle gas tank that doubled its capacity, and the other was for bones, an invention used in attaching sports equipment to tops of cars. Additionally, Mike loved fixing and riding his adventure motorcycles on both coasts and along the continental divide.

Mike owned several rental properties which he enjoyed renting and managing. One of Mike’s great passions was traveling in his camper coast to coast via back roads with his wife Edie. He loved spending time with his family whenever he could, especially when out in the back country hiking. Mike always had the ability to make you know you were loved.

Survivors include his wife Edith Jane Volentine LaCroix of Portsmouth NH and Bend OR, five daughters Michelle Adams and her husband Steve of Center Harbor NH, Suzanne Goulet and her husband Marcel of North Stratford NH, Nadeane St. Jean and her husband David of Plaistow NH, Danielle Leonhart and her husband Jason of Methuen MA, Kendall Good and her husband Jay of Salt Lake City UT and son Nicholas Brock of Scottsdale AZ, grandchildren Jourdain and Nicolas Goulet, Claire, Cole, Kayla and Kate St. Jean, Bianca Leonhart, Shalyn Lover and Jaxon Leonhart.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Tewksbury Cemetery, Tewksbury MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ‘Backcountry Discovery Routes,’ an organization which maintains, opens, and promotes responsible adventure motorcycling in the western United States. Louise and I extend our deepest condolences to his entire family, our hearts are so heavy with learning of Mike's passing. He will forever be remembered as a cornerstone to my life, all our lives. From the Theme of Extremes wedding toast, to racing up Pikes Peak (backwards) and hiking the Grand Canyon. It mattered not if it were lobster dinners on bare floors or motorcycle trips around Nova Scotia, Mike was always smiling, always searching for that next adventure..... we will miss his smile, his incredibly large personality and his tender soul... Much Love Michael!!
