Obituary for Alfred F. Cialfi Jr.

Alfred F. Cialfi Jr., 70, of Biddeford Pool passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on the morning of May 26, 2021 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on Sept 18, 1950 in Hartford CT, and raised in Avon CT, he was the son of his late parents, Angela Julian Cialfi and Alfred F. Cialfi, Sr.

Fred graduated from St. Francis College of the University of New England, the Universities of Maine and Southern Maine, and earned his Ph.D. from Union Graduate School of Psychology. A well-known and respected therapist, Fred maintained a private practice in Biddeford for over 38 years, treating individuals, couples, and families. He was a lifetime member of various professional organizations including the American Counseling Association and the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists. Fred was a very loving and kind individual dedicated to his family, community and Catholic faith. Whether in or out of his office, he took pride in his ability to support others through his commitment to helping those in need. An avid runner, reader, traveler, and Red Sox fan, Fred’s zest for life allowed him to find joy in countless activities. Whether using his musical talents to serenade his family, or his history as a class clown to hold hilarious dance performances, his ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around him was unparalleled. Fred can also be remembered as having lived by his father's numerous words of wisdom, including “give when you can give,” “where there's a will there's a way,” and “every day is a bonus.”

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Faye Cialfi, and her daughter Abby Lalone. He also leaves behind his first wife Ruth Ellen Cialfi and their children; Zachary, Justin, Allyson (Keegan Ziada), along with siblings Gary (Donna), Laurie, and Paul Dean (Karyn), and blessed grandchildren Ella, Lincoln, and Ivy.

In lieu of flowers, it would be Fred’s wish that all individuals paying their respects find ways to practice random acts of kindness in daily life.

Visiting hours will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel in Kennebunk on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 4-6pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Martha’s Church in Kennebunk on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11am, followed by interment at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.
