Obituary

Anna T. Morissette
April 8, 1933 - August 3, 2020

Anna T. Morissette, 87, resident of Lyman, passed peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side after years of battling Alzheimer’s.

Anna was one of three children born to Lucien and Jeanne Camire. She spent a good part of her childhood years on a farm in South Sanford, Maine. Her family also traveled and lived in Florida and Alabama before settling in Lyman, Maine, where her parents bought land at Jackson’s Corner and built “Sunrise Luncheonette”. This is where Anna worked waiting tables and pumping gas in her teenage years.

A tall, handsome man named Marcel began frequenting the cafe. He would buy a Coke and sip very, very slowly while he watched her work. They dated for a time, then married on May 3, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. They settled in Lyman where they raised six children. Anna was devoted to raising her children as well as being involved in activities such as: Girl Scout leader, Catechetical teacher and leader at St. Philip’s Church. She also volunteered making prayer shawls, cleaning at Marie Joseph Spiritual Center and worked part-time.

Anna had a talent for painting and creating works of art. She enjoyed working with oil and water colors. She shared her talent with family, helping her 19 grandchildren discover their creativity. She shared her talent for painting, crocheting, canning and gardening, just to name a few.

Anna 39 great-grandchildren loved coming to the farm and enjoyed their visits with Grand-Memere and Grand-Pepere.

Anna is survived by her son and daughters and spouses: Rachel and her husband, Donald Daigle; Dolores and husband Thomas Gallagher; Margaret and husband Lucien Frechette; Mark Morissette and fiancé Margaret Hanusek; Joanne and husband Bruce Church; Jacalyn and husband Philip Smith. Anna is also survived by her sister Margaret Camire, with the order of the Presentation of Mary; sister-in-law, Frances Camire; sister-in-law, Raymonde and husband Leo Lacourse; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Anna was predeceased by her mother and father; Lucien and Jeanne Camire; brother Henry Camire; brother in law Leon Morissette, and sisters in law Cecile, Solange, Dee, and Jeannine.

Anna’s presence will be dearly missed, but her love we will treasure forever. Mom’s motto was: “Do your best, and let God do the rest”.

Due to COVID-19, a private mass will be held for close family members. At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 family and friends are invited to meet at the Morissette Family Cemetery on Old Post Road, Lyman, for the graveside service. A celebration of Anna’s extraordinary life will follow at the family farm; 308 Day Road, Lyman.
