Obituary for Carol A. Lane

Born June 29th, 1951 in Springfield, Massachusetts…Carol Ann Lane passed away peacefully on April 21st, 2023 at the age of 71 after an epic and fearless battle with cancer.

She earned her education from Springfield Classical High School (class of 1969), University of Southern Maine (undergraduate degree), and Boston University (master’s degree), where her entrance paper was read at the graduation ceremony. She then went on to work in mental healthcare as a clinical social worker most of her professional life, where she was both beloved and respected by colleagues and clients alike.

Simply put, Carol loved life as much as she possibly could. She loved to travel with her family…cruises through the Caribbean and Mexico, and trips to Hawaii, California, and Florida were among her favorites. She was a talented artist in a variety of ways. In music, she sang, played piano and guitar, and wrote her own songs. She also sketched, painted, worked in fine jewelry, wrote screenplays, and had several manuscripts in the works. She was highly skilled in the Penobscot crafts of leatherwork, beading, and sewing…churning out all kinds of indigenous masterpieces. Carol loved the ocean, spending summers at the beach with her family. She also enjoyed planting flowers and working in her garden. Playing games with the family on holidays, or any other day for that matter, was also a cornerstone of her life. The laughter still echoes in the heavens to this day.

Before she passed away, Carol said above all else that she enjoyed being a mother. And to those that know her, it comes as no surprise. She always put the needs of others before her own. She will never be forgotten...only revered...and often celebrated.

Carol is survived by her mother, Joan Lane…her siblings, Barbara Giammarino, Daniel Lane, Donna Wojtowicz and her husband Rick Wojtowicz, Patricia Beaver and her husband Leroy Beaver…her children, Dannel Perkins and his wife Anna Steina, Jess White and her husband T.J. White…and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was predeceased by her father, Leroy Lane.
Remember her...honor her...for she both lived and loved.
