Obituary for Carolyn Ann McAdams
Carolyn Ann McAdams, 78, of Kennebunk, passed away November 29, 2022. She was born December 8, 1943 in Worcester, MA to William and Eva (Boxshus) McAdams.
As a child, Carolyn moved from Worcester, MA to Los Alamos, NM then to Limestone, ME and finally Springfield, MA where she graduated from Cathedral High School. She then earned a degree from Cambridge School of Business in Boston before volunteering for the Peace Corp in Costa Rica.
Carolyn was entrepreneurial in nature. She owned her own bed and breakfast for 38 years in Kennebunk. People were often seen taking pictures of her gardens, which made her proud. She was also a realtor in the Kennebunk area for several years.
Carolyn was very creative, generous, and outgoing. She often spent time volunteering for various community organizations. She enjoyed travelling, art, watercolor painting, and music. One of her greatest joys was spending time with family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva McAdams. She is survived by: her sister, Cheri Johnson and her husband Joe; nephews, Sean Donohue and wife Kristen Puryear, Timothy Donohue, Thomas Johnson and his wife Brooke, and Joey Johnson; niece, Katherine McAllister; 9 great-nieces and nephews, Brennan Donohue, Tyler Donohue, Cole Donohue, Michael Donohue, Maeve Donohue, Morgan Donohue, Gillian McAllister, Fiona McAllister, and Calum McAllister.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 114 Main St., Kennebunk.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Carolyn’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Heifer International, or a charity of personal choice.
