Obituary for Charles Edward "Duke" Skinner Jr.

Charles E. Skinner (Duke) died on April 27, 2022. He was 90 years old. Born in Boston Massachusetts, Duke was the son of Charles and Alice (Colwell) Skinner. He attended Boston Latin School and Bowdoin College, where he excelled as an athlete in basketball and football. Duke enjoyed great success in the insurance industry, first as a salesman and later as a training executive and vice-president. He was much loved by his co-workers.

Duke leaves his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Jeanne Halle Skinner. Duke and Jeanne raised their family in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and he commuted to Canton, Mass. for more than 20 years. He and Jeanne retired to Naples, Florida, where he enjoyed playing golf. Notching two memorable holes-in-one and shooting his age were among his favorite golf memories.

Duke was a gifted public speaker, a great teller of stories and jokes and the life of every party. Blessed with a quick wit and a generous disposition, he was loved by all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Duke is survived by his wife, Jeanne and his sister, Sandra LaBonte. He also leaves his son, Christopher Skinner and daughters Elizabeth King and Victoria Skinner; daughter-in-law Sandra Skinner and son-in-law Rufus King; grandchildren, Sarah Skinner, Emily Skinner, Erica Skinner, Lillian Bodley, Chloe King, Madeline Kneeland and Thomas (Gus) King; great-grandchildren Charlotte and Eloise Bodley, Tucker and Griffin Frost, Roan Skinner and Conor Kneeland. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Richard Skinner.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
