Obituary for Claire M Therrien
Claire M. Therrien, 79 years, of Kennebunk, died February 26, 2020 at Huntington Commons in the loving care of her family.
Claire was born February 13, 1941 in Lewiston, ME a daughter of Adelard and Yvonne (Verville) Gagnon. She graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1958. She worked at TJ Murphy and Son and for the Town of Poland for many years. Claire enjoyed gardening and knitting, but she had an adventuresome side to her as well and enjoyed travelling.
She was a vibrant person and after her children had reached adulthood, Claire served in the Peace Corp in Africa at the age of 50 and travelled to Costa Rica for winters, where she taught English to local children.
In addition to her parents, Claire was predeceased by her sister, Jeannine Turcotte.
Claire is remembered by her three daughters, Denise LaRoche and her husband, Christopher, of Alfred, Celine Henderson and her husband, Dale, of Rye, NH and Michelle Greenberg and her husband, David, of Sparta, NJ; her brother, Paul T. Gagnon of Edgecomb, ME; five grandchildren, Brett, Sarah, Gabriel, Michael and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2 PM at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk, ME.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Beacon Hospice, 304 Hancock Street, Suite 3A Bangor, ME 04401 in Claire’s memory.
