Obituary for Daniel Clement Coughlin

Daniel Clement Coughlin, 80, of Kennebunk, ME, passed away March 4, 2022. He was born July 4, 1941 in Boston, MA to John and Frances (Sances) Coughlin.

Dan graduated from St. Luke’s High School in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ and from East Tennessee State University. He proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963. He worked in Pharmaceutical Sales for Mead Johnson/Bristol Myers Squibb. After retiring he spent many years selling real estate and rehabbing houses in the Kennebunks. He also volunteered his time with local hospice organizations. He married Ellen Tsoumas on February 4, 1968 until her passing in April 13, 1992.

Dan enjoyed spending his time on the sidelines in Hingham and Cohasset watching his grandchildren’s football, basketball, and lacrosse games. He also enjoyed traveling in the winter months, particularly to FL and CA. His fondest memories were of being in Maine with his family and friends for his annual 4th of July golf tournament and cook out.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Coughlin and four brothers, Paul, Bob, Kevin, and Steve. He is survived by his two daughters, Christine McGinty and her husband Patrick of Cohasset, MA and Lisa Savitscus and her husband Peter of Hingham, MA; brother, Jack Coughlin and his wife Barbara of Boalsburg, PA; five grandchildren, Jake, Dylan, Ellie Savitscus and Devin and Danny McGinty; and long time companion Pam Padget of Kennebunk.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, ME. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Kennebunk. Interment with military honors will be held later this spring at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.
