Denise Louise Sopchyk, 69 years, of Wells, ME died November 24, 2019 in the loving care of her sister, Diane Kovacic, and dear friend, Barbara LeBlanc.

Denise was born March 5, 1950 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of George and Bernadine (Ernst) Kovacic. She graduated from Niles North High School in Skokie, IL. Denise enjoyed people and worked in retail for many years, most recently in Kittery, ME at Hanna Andersson. Denise also owned and operated the Captain’s Quarters Motel in Ogunquit for many years.

Denise loved animals and volunteered at the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk. She fostered many animals for them over the years and would help in fund raising for the agency. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed feeding them. She was also active in the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce and volunteered for them as well. She enjoyed attending plays at the Ogunquit Playhouse. She enjoyed cooking and dining with friends.

Denise is lovingly remembered by her sister, Diane Kovacic; her half-sister, Janet Jacobson; and many friends, including Barbara LeBlanc.
