Obituary for Edward Vincent Flynn

Edward V. Flynn, age 76 of Kennebunk, ME. Beloved husband of Nancy (Kopf) Flynn died peacefully at home on Friday, April 30, 2021 after a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and melanoma. Born in New York City, NY on August 13, 1944, he was the son of the late William and Regina (Kolb) Flynn.

Ed earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from St. John’s University, his MBA from Iona College and was a CMA. Ed met Nancy on her first day of employment with IBM working in the same accounting department and they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 20th of this year. He was employed by IBM for 30 years and then worked as a financial consultant for several more years before retirement. Ed was a member of the Mid Westchester Elks Lodge where he served several terms as Exalted Ruler and a parishioner of Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Pleasantville, NY. After living in their Thornwood, NY home for 35 years while raising their children, Ed and Nancy moved to their favorite vacation destination Kennebunk, ME in 2018 to enjoy their retirement years exploring the beaches of Maine’s coast.

Besides his beloved wife Nancy, Ed is survived by two sons Edward W. Flynn of Stamford, CT and Patrick E. Flynn (Nicole) of Queens, NY; two daughters Sandra A. Flynn of Pelham, NY and Kathryn F. Hernandez (Anthony) of Poughkeepsie, NY; a brother William Flynn (Jill) of Texas; three grandchildren Casey Fradkin, James Fradkin and Hannah Hernandez and two brothers-in-law Mark Kopf (Jen) and William Kopf (Sami) both of Vermont as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter Kristen E. Flynn and a sister Maureen Levinson. Ed was a dedicated family man who also provided unconditional love to their golden retrievers, Maggie, Murphy, Maddy, Bailey, Brinkley and Jamie.

A private family service will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, ME. Memorial donations may be made to Animal Welfare Society, 46 Holland Road, Kennebunk, ME 04043.
