Obituary for Edwin Leon Bevins
Edwin L. Bevins, 86, of Wells, Maine, died Friday, March 12, 2021 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, ME. Beloved wife Janet (Cady) Bevins and family were by his side.
Born in Burlington, Vermont he was the son of the late Lyndon & Freda (Rugg) Bevins. Edwin attended Brown University in Rhode Island, before graduating from the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont. He furthered his education at Keene State University in New Hampshire.
Edwin taught at the Leland & Gray Union High School in Townshend, Vermont for 22 years before moving to Wells, Maine where he lived for the next 40 years. He enjoyed baking, reading historical novels and watching old movies. He and Janet traveled through out the United States, visiting 49 states.
Besides his wife Janet, he is survived by a daughter Callie Lavoie and her husband Robert of Wells, Maine, three sons Scott Bevins and his wife Tammy of Yarmouth, Maine; Lee Bevins of Hinesburg, Vermont; Jonathan Bevins and Gail Pearson of Putney, Vermont; a sister Suzanne Chapman of Greenland, New Hampshire and two grandchildren Leah Bevins and Samuel Bevins.
