Obituary for Ernest A. "Erne Adano" Di Sano

Ernest A. "Erne Adano" Di Sano
Ernest A. Di Sano (Erne Adano), 88, singer, actor and entertainer, passed into eternal life on Saturday, November 28, 2020, following a period of declining health. He was a devoted family member and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was born at home in West Brookfield, MA, on October 5, 1932, a son of Eugenio and Angelina (Mallozzi) Di Sano. Erne is predeceased by his brother, Emilio Di Sano in 2014, and his brother Ralph Di Sano in 2016. He is survived by his sister, Angela Di Sano of Wells.

He grew up in North Brookfield, MA, where as a youngster he delighted local audiences with his musical prowess on the trumpet. After graduating from North Brookfield High School, Erne earned his Bachelor of Music degree from New England Conservatory of Music and his Master’s in Theater Arts from Boston University. While he was earning his Bachelor’s degree, the Korean War heated up, and he proudly served his country in the Army. He spent a summer at the Arundel Opera Theatre in Kennebunkport, ME, as an operatic/musical theatre performer in productions including Kismet, Rio Rita, Brigadoon, Madama Butterfly, and La Boheme.

He moved to New York City to pursue his passion for performing. Mr. Adano recorded popular music and opened for the Temptations at the Copa Cabana. He later sang regularly with the New York City Opera and also appeared in concert “ADANO SINGS ARLEN” at Lincoln Center. He performed Big Band standards in concert and in off-Broadway/Broadway, summer stock and touring production companies (Fantasticks, Fiddler, Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me Kate, Hamlet, My Fair Lady, Mikado, Pajama Game, South Pacific, 1776) throughout the United States. He performed major choral works (Mozart, Verdi, Brahms Requiems) with the Boston Symphony and at Lincoln Center, and New York cathedrals and churches.

Film credits include The Godfather II, and Home Alone 2. His diverse artistic stature resulted in numerous casting calls and regular work on daytime/television dramas (Somerset, Edge of Night, Love of Life, Ryan’s Hope, The Doctors, Search for Tomorrow, Law and Order). Mr. Adano was a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), and the American Actors Equity Association (AEA). He was highly regarded as a vocal/theatrical/recording coach and music arranger (DareStar Productions) in New York City.

Erne had a passion for automobiles. His first car was a Crosley, an American manufacturer specializing in sub-compact cars. During college years, he restored his ’39 Pontiac convertible bright red and later, was a fan of the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. He would have enjoyed being a gentleman farmer but was too busy with acting and cars! He had a keen interest in homeopathic and cures.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 3, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells.
