Obituary for Francis M. "Frank" McCarthy

Francis (Frank) Matthew McCarthy passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2022 at his residence in Berwick, ME.,surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 17th, 1936 to John and Irene McCarthy, and was one of eight children.

Francis was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and worked for Ciambro
Construction, Western Auto, and most recently, Marshwood High School as head custodian. He loved being outdoors, fishing of any kind and collecting coins. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Dover, NH, and he was an active participant at the South Berwick Senior Center. He had the best sense of humor until the very end, and he will be remembered for how funny he was.

Francis is predeceased by his parents, John and Irene McCarthy, and his beloved grandaughter, Katie J. Whitten. He is survived by his sweetheart of 66 years, Janiece (Janice) M McCarthy, their three children Linda L. Whitten (Michael), Frank McCarthy; Brenda L. Tuttle (Jason), and his grandchildren Timothy Whitten (Elizabeth), Jennifer Guptill (Steven), Amy McCarthy, Lisa McCarthy, Alec Tuttle (Lindsey) and Adam Tuttle (Fiancé Shenelle); his great-grandchildren Alayna and Aiden Guptill; Jacob, Jeremy and Kianna Provencial, Colby, Gavin, and Miley Tuttle, and Emily Gilardi, Ashten Tuttle and Charlie; and his siblings, William, Doris , John, Eileen, Robert, Thomas and Rosemary.

A memorial service will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 62 Cemetery Rd. Berwick, ME on January 28th, 2023 at 11 am with a reception to follow. Burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth, NH will take place in the spring.
