Obituary for Gloria Sandra Bernier (Bernier)
Standish, Maine
Gloria Sandra Bernier 76 years, a resident of Standish, ME formerly of West Kennebunk, ME, and California, died Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home after brief illness.
Gloria was born in West Kennebunk, ME on July 6, 1944, a daughter of Victor D. and Elsie L. (Hamel) Bernier.
She graduated from Governor Baxter School of the Deaf in Falmouth, ME in 1963 and she also graduated from American School for the Deaf in Hartford, CT in 1965.
Gloria moved to Los Angeles, CA where she worked as a data entry clerk at an insurance company for 14 years, she worked in the banking industry for 9 years and then for Pratt Whitney United Technologies for 14 years. She moved back to Maine several years ago.
Gloria enjoyed doing puzzles, reading and photography she was a huge Elvis Presley Fan!
Gloria was member of the Hartford Deaf Club, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose, CA Deaf Clubs and Senior Citizen Deaf Club of Portland, ME.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, six brothers, Douglas, Robert, Ray, Donald, James, and Paul Bernier.
She is survived by her sister Carol Ann Feeney and her husband John of Old Orchard Beach, ME, many nieces and nephews, and especially her close friend, Wayne Briggs of Standish, ME.
A Double Graveside service for Carol and her sister Gloria will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk, Maine on Saturday, June 12th at 1:00 PM.
Should friends desire memorial donations to the Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094 can be made in Gloria’s memory.
