Obituary for Harold "Neil" Heyland
Harold “Neil” Heyland passed away November 24, 2019 at home in Kennebunk surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 14, 1940 in Malden, MA to Harold J. and Virginia “Jean” (O’Leary) Heyland.
Following his graduation from Saugus High School, Neil received an Associate’s Degree from North Shore Community College. He served our country as a member of the U.S. Naval Air Reserves. He worked at Polaroid as an Engineer for 28 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Valarie Lopez.
Neil was a hobby enthusiast. He enjoyed trains, gardening, and cars, especially Mustangs. He was very patriotic and especially loved spending time with his family.
Neil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Valarie Heyland; 5 children, Neil Heyland, Erik Heyland, Krista Wesley, Jonathan Heyland, and Scott Heyland; sister, Joan Katis; 14 grandchildren; and sister and brother in law, Joanne and Larry McGovern.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Kennebunk.
