Hildegard “Hilde” Woodward, 98, died peacefully in the 4-generation home that she loved on Drake’s Island in Wells on June 14, 2020. Hilde was born on August 17, 1921 in Waltham, MA., daughter of Clarence and Olive Small. Hilde worked at John Hancock and went to physiotherapy school in her younger life. Later she volunteered at Laudholm Farm. Hilde was always very active. Riding horses, skiing, skating, sailing, and walking on the beach. She went parasailing on her 70th birthday, but one of her most favorite activities was riding the waves on her boogie board (into her late 70’s). She was an avid animal lover and loved to go out to eat. Hilde was kind and also strong-willed. She always stood up for what she believed was right.

Hilde is predeceased by her husband Norman Woodward, and her son Scott Woodward.

Hilde is survived by her daughter Kristin Woodward; brother Howard Small and his wife Lorraine; grandson Robert Woodward and his wife Melanie; daughter in law Maryellen Woodward; plus many nieces and nephews.

An in-home Memorial will be held when the Pandemic restrictions are relaxed. Date to be determined.
