Howard Herbert Hughes, a resident of Berwick, ME and formerly of Methuen, MA and Danville, NH, died at his home on Friday, March 26th, 2021 at the age of 83 after a long illness.

Howard was born in Methuen, MA on June 17, 1937, the son of Herbert and Priscilla (Westwell) Hughes, and he attended Methuen schools.

Howard was employed by a number of different shoe factories in Lawrence, MA for several years before moving to Danville, NH, where he worked as a mechanic and cabinet maker for over ten years. He and his wife Lorraine moved to Berwick, ME and Howard drove a school bus for Maine School Administrative District 60 for over 30 years, finally retiring from his career a few years ago.

Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, model airplanes, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Priscilla Hughes; his son, Howard H. Hughes, Jr.; his brother, Donald Hughes; and by his grandson, Joseph A. Gage.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorraine (LeSage) Hughes of Berwick; his two beloved daughters, Jane R. Boulanger and her husband, Gregory, of Newton, NH, and Carol Hughes of Hampstead, NH; his brother, Jack Hughes and his wife, Barbara, of Danville, NH; his sister, Priscilla Krukonis and her husband, Ed, of Beverly, MA; his three beloved grandsons, Daniel H. Gage, James H. Gage, and Ronald Z. Boulanger; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Mr. Hughes’ wishes, there will be no services.
