Obituary for James Curtis "Jim" Hollowell

James “Jim” Curtis Hollowell, 92, of Cape Elizabeth, ME, passed away February 8, 2024. He was born October 2, 1931 in Tacoma Park, MD to Eugene Amos and Mabel (Gallion) Hollowell.

Jim received a Bachelor’s Degree from Duke University. He honorably served our country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a Regional Manager at Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. He married Constance Ehrsam they remained married for 67 years until his passing.

Jim was known for his tremendous sense of humor. He was generous and caring of family and friends and was generous beyond belief with his time and money. He was hard working and recognized for his integrity. Jim enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, reading, sailing, barbershop quartet, home projects, and woodworking. He was a member of the Scientist Cliff Homeowners Association and gardening and beach committees.

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, Eugene and Mabel Hollowell; brother, John; and sister, Jean. He is survived by: his wife, Constance; daughters, Helen, Mary, and Anne; son, Michael; and grandchildren, Olivia, Celia, Jimmy, Zoe, Henrietta, and Noah.
