Obituary for Juan Ariolfo Cordero Paredes

Juan Ariolfo Cordero Paredes, 55, of Sanford, Maine, formerly of Cuenca, Ecuador, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. He was born in Cuenca, Ecuador on March 1, 1965, one of three children born to Mesias Cordero Amoroso† and Maria Del Carmen Paredes Hermida.

He married the love of his life, Anne Christina Donaghy, on August 24, 1991 in Ecuador. Shortly after marrying they moved to the United States. They raised 4 beautiful children together.

Juan’s family was the most important aspect of his life. His love for his family was evident in all his actions. He shared countless stories and family adventures with many of his coworkers and friends, always with a bigger than life smile. He was a very proud grandfather and loved every moment he spent with his two grandchildren, Jace and Vanessa. His bond with his grandson Jace was second to none. In Jace’s words “he was a very nice man who was very beloved”. Even Juan’s classmates in Cuenca were like family to him. He touched so many people in so many wonderful ways.

Juan had a passion for motorcycles. Six summers ago he coaxed Anne into learning to ride. He patiently taught her throughout that summer. And they soon hit the open road. Together they took many long bike trips, in all kinds of weather, to many distant points in the United States. Even friends from Cuenca traveled to the United States and joined he and Anne on long bike rides through the western part of the country. He could not have been prouder nor happier when his son Miguel and daughter, Maria, learned to ride. He enjoyed the moments when he took his oldest daughter, Mari, and his youngest daughter, Rosa, on rides as well. Juan even took Jace for rides around town, both donning their big boy grins as they rode. There are countless memories that his family will cherish forever. Despite his passion for motorcycles, his passion for his family was the greatest of all. Juan just enjoyed being with his family and his presence will forever be missed.

He is predeceased by his father, Mesias Cordero Amoroso† and by his sister, Maria Rosa Cordero Paredes†.

Juan is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Anne Christina Donaghy Cordero of Sanford, Maine; his son, Miguel Antonio Cordero and his three daughters, Mari Anne Cordero, Maria Victoria Cordero, Rosa Elena Cordero; two grandchildren, Jace Antonio Cordero and Vanessa Belle Greene. Juan is also survived by his loving mother whom he adored, Maria del Carmen Paredes Hermida; his brother, Jorge Esteban Cordero Paredes of Cuenca, Ecuador;; and his three nieces, Belen, Caridad, and Emilia Cordero, of Cuenca, Ecuador.
