Obituary for Kevin Joseph Ryan

ALFRED Kevin Joseph Ryan, 62, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at his residence.

Kevin was born June 3, 1959, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Joseph Ryan and Betty Walters, and attended Syracuse Schools, where he enjoyed participating in sports including football and track.

He furthered his education at the state University of New York where he earned his associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology-Product and Machine: Design Option. Joining Pratt Whitney in Hartford, CT, he began a long and rewarding career, working his way up an in the company, where he earned two master’s degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford in Mechanical Engineering and was awarded several patents for his design ideas. He transferred to the North Berwick facility in the 1990’s, and at the time of his death, had been with the company for 37 years. His love, faithfulness and dedication for his job was apparent to all who knew him.

Kevin dedicated his life to our Lord Jesus in March of 2005 where he became a Christian and active member of the church. Among some of his passions were riding his road bike, mountain climbing, kayaking, camping, learning to play his guitar, cutting wood and just enjoying the outdoors. He was also an assistant coach with Kennebunk High School Lacrosse team. He loved spending time with family, especially with his 2 daughters and playing ball with his dog Jeter. Kevin was very intelligent with a great sense of humor, always making people laugh with his dry jokes.

Survivors include his beloved wife Rosanna Ryan of Alfred, two daughters Leah and Alison Ryan, his mother and stepfather, Betty Walters Bassett and her husband Richard, a sister Tracy Underwood, 1/2 older siblings Mark, David, Danny and Betty Fire, 1/2 younger siblings Richard and Michelle Bassett, and a wide circle of extended family. His deceased father Joseph Ryan served in the Armed forces of the United States.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, June 6, 2022, from Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Kennebunk.
