Obituary for Laura Ann Atkinson (Schoff)

Dateline – Arundel

Laura Ann Atkinson, 71, of Arundel, died Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2020 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Saco on November 23, 1948, a daughter of Edwin Fred and Anna Bella (Rennie) Schoff. She grew up in Kennebunk, graduating from Kennebunk High School. Following High School, she enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army.

Following her honorable discharge from active duty, Laura returned home and started her own family. She also worked for 20 plus years at Corning. In her retirement, she became a caregiver, taking care of her Aunt during her final years.

Laura loved to travel, and especially enjoyed taking cruises. She enjoyed watching movies, and was a talented baker.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Sandy Merrill.

Survivors include her son, Teddy Smith of Sanford; two daughters, Sheila Stuart and husband Greg of Arundel, Anna L. Knight of Lebanon; three brothers, Wayne Schoff of Arundel, Steven Schoff, Sr., of Lyman, Allen Schoff of Arundel; two sisters, Sara Schoff Merando of Arundel, Barbara MacCormack of Sanford; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. Burial will be private.
