Obituary for Lois P. "Pat" Nickerson
Lois P. “Pat” Nickerson, 84, of Sanford, formerly of Cape Porpoise, passed away Friday, June 24,2022 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a long illness.
Lois was born at her family farm on June 6,1938, in Springvale, ME, the daughter of Fredrick and Lois (Bracie) Gerry.
As a student she played basketball and sang, competing in talent shows, and even made an appearance on television.
Lois was employed as an office Administrator with MSAD 71, first at the Consolidated School in Kennebunkport, then Kennebunk High School, from which she retired after 40 years.
An avid outdoors person who loved camping, boating, hunting and fishing. Later in life she enjoyed bird watching and tending her flower gardens, crossword puzzles and TV game shows.
She was predeceased by her son, Jess Mackinnon.
Survivors include her partner and husband of 22 years, Arnold Nickerson, III of Sanford, two stepdaughters Bonnie Weeman and her husband Mark of Wells and Patti Walters and her husband Bill of Greensboro, NC, a sister Elaine Staples and husband Thomas of South Berwick, half-sister Jean Durgin of Wolfeboro, NH; two grandchildren, Jessica and Nicholas, 3 stepgrandchildren, Kori, Jessie and Hanna, and many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
