Obituary for Marcia Ellen Elton
Marcia Ellen Elton, 92, of Berwick, ME, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022.
Marcia was born on November 28, 1929 in Springfield, MA to Herbert and Helena (Fitzpatrick) Lanagan. She graduated from West Springfield High School, and remained in the West Springfield, MA area for 30 years before moving to Berwick, ME. She became the town assessor for Berwick, a position she would hold for another 30 years before retiring.
Marcia was an equestrian enthusiast, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and was a longtime member of her local snowmobile club. In her later life, she joined a local bowling league. Besides her interest in these activities, Marcia relished the time she got to spend with her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed by them.
Marcia was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Elton; her parents, Herbert and Helena Lanagan; and her sister, Jamie Dwyer.
Marcia is survived by her son, Edwin Elton, of Austin, TX; her daughter, Ellen Reil, and her husband, Lane, of Berwick, ME; and two grandchildren, Jaime Guy and Nathan Booth.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 2PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 62 Cemetery Road, Berwick, ME. Interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, ME. After the service, friends and family are invited to attend a reception at Bibber Memorial Chapel for refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcia’s honor to the Kennebunk Animal Welfare Society, 46 Holland Road, Kennebunk, ME 04043.
