Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Crowley

Mary Elizabeth (O’Connor) Crowley born January 8, 1942 to Henry and Florence O’Connor in Brookline, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 19, 2024 She was surrounded by her husband of 58 years, and her daughters Lisa MacDonald and Erin Neale, in Kennebunk, Maine.

Mary grew up in Medford, MA and graduated from Malden Catholic High School. She later graduated from the St. Elizabeth Hospital Nursing program, as well as New England College. Mary worked throughout her life as a registered nurse, including as the assistant director of the Nashua Family Planning Clinic and the Operating Room supervisor at Newport Hospital in New Hampshire. She also had a passion for accounting and financial planning, and was able to utilize her skills throughout her life and career through work and volunteer hours.

Mary was a strong woman and role model. She had a lifelong connection to her faith and exemplified values of love, honesty, and acceptance. She also adored and supported her family tirelessly. She was a frequent and effortless host to family and friends from all over the world, including numerous ski weekends, which brought her much joy. Mary especially loved time spent with her children and grandchildren, including being their biggest fan at sporting events. She had a special and unique relationship with each one of her grandchildren, which included humor, teasing, and guidance. She loved generously and anyone who was fortunate enough to know her felt it.

Mary leaves behind her loving husband Leo, as well as the loving families of her two daughters, Lisa, and her husband Tom, and their children Ian and Eva, and Erin and her husband Scott and their children Cameron and Ellen. She is is also survived by her loving siblings, Virginia Farrell of Salem, NH, Clare Chapman of Pelham, NH, James O’Connor of Nahant, Ma, and William O’Connor and his wife Debra of Nahant, Ma, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

A funeral Mass will be held on 11 AM Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Holy Spirit Parish, Saint Martha’s Church, 30 Portland Rd, Kennebunk, Maine. Following the Mass there will be a celebratory gathering that will follow the service, lunch will be served. In Mary’s remembrance, please donate to a favorite charity, perform a random act of kindness for someone in need, or recall fond memories of good times spent with Mary that make you smile.
