Obituary for Michael W. "Mike" Gould Sr.

KENNEBUNK ME

Michael W. Gould Sr., 59, of Kennebunk’s Lower Village, passed away while visiting his hometown of Oakhurst, NJ on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Mike was born January 7, 1963 in Neptune, NJ, the son of Robert W. and Elaine G. (Baum) Gould. Growing up in Oakhurst, he attended local schools there, and went on to earn a degree in botany from Rutgers University.

In his youth, Mike was a frequent summer visitor to his family’s hometown where his grandparents owned and operated well-known Baum’s Boatyard in Kennebunk. This woodworking gene came down to Mike, who enjoyed the construction trade. Moving to Kennebunk in 2000, he owned Kennebunk Water and Stone, a granite countertop company, working with many local contractors in new construction and renovations.

He had a passion for woodworking and made many personal gifts for his family over the years, he also loved to walk the beach with his dogs, participating in bike races, watching the television program Monk, and was known for his sense of humor. Mike always tried to have a life of joy, and was known to warn others to “hold on, its gonna be a bumpy ride”

Mike was a friend of Bill’s, and a member of 7 Mile Road Church in Kennebunk, where he was recently baptized.

He is predeceased by his father, and his son Jacob Gould.

Survivors include his mother Elaine Gould of Oakhurst, NJ, wife of 35 years Kimberly Rae Gould of Kennebunk, children, Samantha R. Watson of Derry, NH, Michael W. Gould, Jr., and Daniel Gould of Kennebunk; a brother Robert Gould of Oakhurst, NJ, sister Wendy Lee Gould of North Carolina, and 6 grandchildren, Gavin, Owen and Sarah Watson, Haley and Lola Brancato and Penelope Osgood.

Visiting hours and celebration of Mike’s life will be held Saturday, February 19 at 2:00 pm until the time of his funeral service at 3:30 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch, NJ. A spring interment service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk, where Mike will be laid to rest with his beloved son Jacob.
