Obituary for Patricia Ann Walsh

Patricia Ann (O’Connell) Walsh of Wells, Maine and Venice, Florida, and who lived in Waltham, MA for 56 years until her retirement in 2009, passed away peacefully in her Wells home on Sunday, December 4th, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. She was 68.

Born in Waltham on December 12th, 1953, Pattie was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Laughrea) O’Connell. Pattie was raised in Waltham and attended St. Patrick’s School in Watertown, graduating from St. Patrick’s High School in 1971. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Salem State College in 1975.

Pattie’s love was being near the ocean. Her favorite places were the harbor in Wells, walking the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME, and sitting along the beautiful west coast beaches in Venice, Florida. After staying home for 10 years to raise her three children, Pattie had a successful career managing the finances for multiple restaurants in the Boston area, working her way up to become an owner for 2 restaurants in Newton and Sudbury, MA.

The most important part of Pattie’s life was her family. Her willingness to drop what she was doing to help someone in her family, watch her grandchildren, or literally anything to help out became a common occurrence for all in her life.

Pattie was the loving and devoted wife to Daniel Walsh. They had been married in 1975 and were able to enjoy 13+ years of healthy and fulfilling retirement. She was the loving mother of Brian Walsh and his wife, Katie Dalton, of Milton, MA, Julie (Walsh) Christian and her husband, Ryan, of Tomball, TX, and Colleen (Walsh) Milaiko and her husband, Matt, of Revere, MA. Pattie was the adoring “MiMi” to Liam, Teddy, and Quinn Walsh of Milton, MA, and Andrew and Michael Christian of Tomball, TX. Pattie was the dear sister of Maureen Pickering and her husband, Ed, of Lowell, MA, Joseph “Jay” O’Connell of Watertown, MA, Jimmy O’Connell and his wife, Debbie, of Lynnfield, MA, and Michael O’Connell and his wife, Nancy, of Framingham, MA. Pattie’s sister, Eileen O’Connell, passed away in 2006. Pattie has an army of friends and extended family in Maine, Massachusetts, Florida, and beyond.

Visitation will be held at the O'Connor and Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St., DORCHESTER, on Sunday, December 11, from 2pm-6pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd., Milton, on Monday, December 12, at 10am.
