Obituary for Paul Gardner Hopkins

Portland, ME

Paul Gardner Hopkins, 77, of Portland, died Monday, January 27, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Medford, MA, on August 29, 1942, the son of Frank Gardner and Dorothy (Burnham) Hopkins. He grew up in Winchester, MA, graduating from Winchester High School. Paul was a long-time resident of Kennebunkport, ME. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maine (Orono). Paul then attended Syracuse University for graduate studies.

Paul was a quiet and unassuming man. He was witty, intelligent, gentle, and kind. He enjoyed writing poetry, spending time with his family, and taking walks.

He is survived by his loving sister, Cynthia L. Hopkins of North Andover, MA; his niece, Rebecca E. Stronck and his nephew, Matthew E. Tonello.
