Condolence: Well I was stunned to see that Richard had passed. He was without doubt one of the funniest men that I have ever met. I first met he and Susan at The Shawmut....We'll leave it at that! He laughed at so much, himself and others included. His laugh was infectious...what a hoot! But always a caring and giving man. He and Susan were and are great, warm and giving people. I was invited many times to events at their home...and events they were! We have lost a local treasure. You were a good man Richard and it was an honor to know you and hopefully be considered a friend.

Condolence: I just learned of Richard's passing today and I have spent much of the day thinking about him. My parents were friends with Ralph and Vera and I grew up with their family visiting often. I have many many fond memories of those times, especially the dinners. As a teenager I spent a few summers working at "The 'Mutt" and did a lot of growing up there (not always on my best behavior). Over the years I enjoyed the occasions when I would run into Richard long enough to catch up and I am saddened to hear of his passing. The world has lost a warm and loving man, and heaven gained a new soul.

Condolence: One of our most memorable and treasured Thanksgivings ever was spent at Richard and Susan’s house. It was our first time meeting Richard and he instantly became a legend. His wit, warmth and humor made us feel welcome, well cared for and highly-entertained. We’ve told the story of the beautiful table, amazing food and outstanding company many times since then...and will remember him fondly for all the Thanksgivings to come. Our deepest condolences to Susan and his family, as well as to his legion of friends who will miss hearing that laugh and seeing that ready smile. He was a true original.

Condolence: We will miss you, Richard. Time spent with you was lots of fun, sometimes argumentative, never dull and always accepting. You and Susan were fabulous hosts - your dining table a thing of beauty and your menus outstanding. We all felt like honored guests when at your home. Thanks for being our friend.
