Obituary for Richard Michael ""Richie Rich"" Roman

Richard Michael Roman, age 71, of Kennebunkport, ME tragically passed away in his home January 21, 2022.

Richard was born on March 28, 1950 in Detroit, MI, grew up in Madison Heights, MI and graduated from Lamphere High School in 1968. He went on to become a musician as a drummer, playing and traveling with various bands while rubbing shoulders with many famous musicians.

In 1971, he started a family in Ohio where he began a career as a construction worker/superintendent, working for various companies for nearly 50 years, but he never gave up his love and passion for playing the drums. Eventually moving to Maine for construction work around 2010, he continued seeking out and playing in the music community. He was most importantly known for raising and fathering seven children who would inherit his wonderful musical gene, to carry on his wonderful legacy. A father like him was rare, one that’s so loving, generous, smart, funny and kind. A father/grandfather, brother, friend like you is what everyone needs and will be dearly missed. We will all miss the smiles and laughter that nothing will replace, but when you get to heaven, God will be lucky to have you too.

He is lovingly survived by his children Joshua Roman, Jeremy Roman, Amy (Doug) Willard, Andrew Roman, Benji Roman, and Ruben Roman; sister, Sally (Gary) Gross and brother, Allen (Chris) Wruble; his significant other, Paula Belage; and his beautiful grandchildren, Gabriel, Brianna, Daniel, Brooklyn, Colt, Lilian, Christian, Isabella, Kalob, and Cloey.

He is predeceased by his parents, son, Jordan Roman and his brother, Robert Roman, Thomas Roman and Jerome Wruble.

As per his request, he will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held some time in the summer to honor him. He wishes for his ashes to be dissolved to the ocean.

In lieu of flowers, in remembrance of Richard “Richie Rich” Roman’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to this non-profit organization hungryformusic@hungrymusic.org.

Thank you for the continued prayers and support from family and friends, and as “Richie Rich” would say, “Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.”
