Obituary for Roberta Simonton (Huff)
KENNEBUNK -
Roberta Simonton, 88, of Kennebunk, passed away Tuesday morning, November 29, 2022, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough surrounded by family and friends.
Roberta was born December 12, 1933 in Kennebunk. She was one of seven children, the second daughter of Clement and Mamie E. Wakefield Huff, and she attended Kennebunk schools.
Always a hard worker, she began her career at an early age with Kent Cleaners, The Sea Spray, and the GlenMor Restaurant, where she worked in the kitchen.
Roberta was known to have a sweet tooth, which showed in her homemade chocolate cake for each family members birthday. She insisted on cooking with her woodstove, which was fueled by the wood she chopped by hand well into her seventies.
When she wasn’t working, she spent time playing cards with Rita and Howard, talking with all of her nieces and nephews that stopped by for a visit, watching her favorite TV shows, and playing with her great grandkids.
She is survived by her son David Huff and his wife Debbie of Kennebunk, two grandchildren Josh Huff and his wife Katie, and Jenn Diaz and her husband Chris, and two great grandchildren, Avrey and Connor Diaz, all of Kennebunk, along with a wide circle of extended family.
An hour of visitation will be held 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2022 followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk. Interment will follow in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.
