Obituary for Roland Williams Bracy Jr.

Roland Williams Bracy Jr., 67 years, a resident of Biddeford, formerly of Portland, ME, died Tuesday March 2, 2021 at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough, ME after long illness, with his wife at his side.

Roland was born in Portland, Maine on April 19, 1953 a son of Roland Williams Bracy Sr. and Lelia Ernestine (Greenlaw) Bracy and graduated from Governor Baxter School for the Deaf of Falmouth, Maine, the class of 1972, where he was Valedictorian in his class and played on the High School Basketball Team.

He worked several odd jobs in the Portland area for many years before travelling to 47 states. He and his wife Vicki opened their own business, Watts Restoration Furniture and Repair Shop in Scarborough, Maine for several years before moving the business to Biddeford. He and Vicki worked the business until 2013 when Roland’s illness made it difficult to continue.

Roland enjoyed fishing, camping, socializing with the Deaf Community where he was a member, and served as president of Greater Portland Deaf Club. He was also a member of Gardiner Deaf Club of Gardiner, Maine for many years. He enjoyed being involved and following Deaf Sports and spending time with family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; a grandson, Dane Bracy, Jr. who died in 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Watts of Biddeford; two sons, Roland W. Bracy, III of Portland and Dane Bracy of Biddeford; two daughters, Peri Starr of Freeport, Maine and Minna Bracy of Biddeford; three brothers, Norman Bracy of Buxton, ME, Harold Bracy of Standish, ME and Ervin Bracy of Cumberland, ME; a sister, Claudia Sabine of Westbrook, ME; three beloved grandchildren, Rashawn, William and Priscilla and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Roland’s wishes there will be no visiting hours. A Celebration of Life service will be held at later date.
