Obituary for Ronald Wayne "Ron" King

Ronald Wayne King, 67 years, a resident of Sherman, formerly of Lyman, ME, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his beloved camp surrounded by family and friends.

Ronald was born February 16, 1955 in York, ME, a son of John Webb King, Sr. and Charlotte Phyllis (Campbell) King and attended Kennebunk schools.

He married the love of his life, Kimberly Ann (Brown) King in December of 1973. Ron worked for Brex Corporation as an excavator for 5 years, went to work for the Town of Kennebunk for 5 years and went back to Brex for another 30 years, becoming a foreman, before his retirement in 2019. He made life-long friendships with his Brex co-workers.

Ron was known for his colorful sayings and making people smile. He loved NASCAR and went to several racetracks around the country with friends Brian and Barb. He was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of traveling to Alaska, also with Brian and Barb. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and once retired, he loved having everyone “upta camp” for ATV rides and bonfires. Family and friends were everything to him.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Michelle Leigh King, and by his beloved niece and nephew, Debra Cole and John King.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kimberly Ann (Brown) King of Sherman, ME; daughter Melissa Lynne (King) Clark and husband Ronald E. Clark, Jr. of Lyman, ME and a son Christopher Michael King, also of Lyman, ME; 2 brothers, Richard A. King and his wife Susan of West Kennebunk, ME and John W. King, Jr. of Lyman, ME; 2 sisters, Linda (King) Ruel and her husband Marcel of West Kennebunk, ME and Eleanor (King) Frasier of Shapleigh, ME; and 2 beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn Michelle Clark and Dylan Ernest Clark of Lyman, ME.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Bibber Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Pine Grove Cemetery in West Kennebunk.

The King family would like to offer a very special thank you to lifetime friends Lonnie and Donnie for all the support and for being “partners in crime” during Ron’s last year. They would also like to thank Northern Light Hospice of Houlton and RN Sophie for all of her special care, as well as Northern Light Cancer Care in Brewer and all the doctor’s and nurses for the care they gave Ron. A very special thank you to Sarah’s House of Maine in Holden that became our safe harbor – a real home away from home during Ron’s cancer journey. Thank you to Delores and Cathy who offered a warm smile and a shoulder to cry on and to just listen.
