Obituary for Stephanie Bloomer Elford

Stephanie (Steph) B. Elford, 85, of Kennebunk, Maine, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 12, 2024, from natural causes.

Stephanie was born in Mahopac, NY, on May 2, 1938, to Dorothy and Charles L. Bloomer of Bucks Hollow Road, Mahopac, NY.

She worked as a store manager of Roberts Flowers in Hanover, NH for many years, then became the assistant manager of the women's department at Campion's in Hanover, NH, then the store manager at Campion's in New London, NH.

For many years, Steph spent summers at Granliden in Sunapee, NH, and winters at Imperial Golf Estates in Naples, FL and Hunter's Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bonita Springs, FL. She loved having her family visit her at both locations. She was an avid golfer and was a member of many women's golf teams.

She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Steph had several habits including calling her two sons every Sunday morning - Chuck at 8:30 AM and Lee at 9 AM. Included in these conversations were phrases like "Are you home?", "How are the girls?", "Is there anything else I should know?", "Time will tell" and "So be it".

She was predeceased by her 3rd husband, John (Jack) Elford. She leaves behind two sons, Charles Metz III and his wife Jean Metz of Carmel, ME, and Lee Metz and his partner Kelly Stacy of York, ME; 4 granddaughters, Jessica (Metz) Olsen of Lyme, NH, Abigail (Metz) Brooks of Sangerville, ME, Laine Metz of Islamorada, FL, and Anne Metz of Boston, MA; and 2 great-grandchildren, Klayton Brooks and Renley Brooks of Sangerville, ME.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at 11 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME.

A burial service will take place at the Union Valley Cemetery in Mahopac, NY on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12 PM.
