Victor Samuel Varano, a resident of Kennebunk, formerly of Dedham, MA died Saturday October 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by family after a brief illness. He was born on February 12, 1936 in Dedham, MA, the son of Salvatore and Grace Marie (Sarro) Varano and graduated from Dedham High School.
For many years, Victor served as Vice President for numerous seafood companies in Massachusetts, before moving to Kennebunk, Maine in 2003.
He was a communicant of Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary’s Church in Wells, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Wells, ME. He was also an honorary member of the Wells/Ogunquit Senior Center.
Victor was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cribbage and could often be found at the Senior Center for Wednesday Cribbage Tournaments. He loved good Italian food and wine, especially from his son’s restaurant, Varano’s. Victor was an avid Patriots Fan and never missed watching a game with his family. He had a knack for telling a joke and you could count on a new joke every time you saw him.
Victor was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Jane Varano Lagarra, his son in law Robert Bynarowicz, and his grandson, Robert Bynarowicz, Jr.
He leaves his loving wife of 65 years Carol (Jordan) Varano of Kennebunk and his children; Douglas and Donna Varano, Richard and Sherri Varano, Anne Varano-Eaton and Bruce Eaton , Elizabeth Bynarowicz, Susan Varano and Richard Tonner, Marguerite and Robert Thibodeau, Christopher and Kellie Varano and Stefanie and Richard Morris. He also leaves his son in law Victor Lagarra, 19 beloved grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Holy Parish at St Mary’s Church of Wells. Interment followed in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.
