Obituary for Virginia Ann "Ginger" Gallant (Grey)

Virginia A Gallant, age 91, longtime resident of Emery Mills (Shapleigh), a loving, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 17, 2021.

Virginia, often referred to as Ginger/Ginny, was born in Berwyn, Illinois, in 1929, and at a young age moved to Southern California then to Panama, where her Father worked on the Canal Zone, for her high school years, graduating in 1947. Later when her father retired the family moved to Cherry Hill, Connecticut, to a small farm.

She met our father, Richard R Gallant in Connecticut when both were employed at Pratt & Whitney. Upon marrying they moved to Emery Mills, Maine in 1957 where they raised their four children.
Ginger was a hardworking stay-at-home mom who tended a large garden, mastered the art of cooking on/in a woodstove, and knitting and sewing. She was a member of the United Maine Craftsman where she satisfied her passion for making jewelry.

Mom & Dad were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1963 attending the Sanford/Springvale Kingdom Hall where they have a large spiritual family and enjoyed teaching others Bible Truths in their Christian ministry. Mom was especially excited when she learned from the Bible that God’s original purpose for the earth has never changed and the whole earth will be restored to a paradise and that all humankind past, present & future will be able to live there in peace & health because of Jesus sacrifice, Revelation 21:3,4.

Mom & Dad enjoyed traveling and especially looked forward to their winters in Florida where they had a small retirement home in Port Orange. Because of their faith they had a wonderful spiritual family in both the Spruce Creek & Port Orange Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She will be greatly missed by her family, her children Bert & wife Barbara, Linda & husband Mark, John & wife Kelly, David & wife Christine, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her younger brother Robert Merrill Jr & family, of San Diego, CA. We are all looking forward to being reunited with her and Dad in God’s righteous new world to come.
