Obituary for Walter Lewis "Chip" Pearson

KENNEBUNK

Walter Lewis (Chip) Pearson entered eternal life on January 1, 2021.

He was the beloved and devoted husband of Linda Mancini Pearson for 32 years. His physical presence will be deeply missed by his family that he leaves behind; his three sons and their wives, Brian Lewis and his wife, Alicyn, Matthew Richard and his wife, Taylor, and Alexander John. Chip’s most recent love was his granddaughter, Lillian Jean, who too briefly entered his life in November 2020. Additionally, Chip leaves behind his mother, Jean Pearson, father-in-law, Carlo Mancini, sister Mary Ann and her husband, Joseph Gianni and their daughters Sarah and Katherine, and sister-in-law Jill Mancini and her daughters Jamie and Melissa. He was predeceased by his father Victor Pearson, his mother-in-law, Susan Mancini and his brother-in-law Carl Mancini.

Chip was born in Manchester, CT on December 7, 1960 and raised in West Hartford, CT. He attended the Robinson and Kingswood Oxford Schools. After graduating from Northeastern University with a Degree in Management and Finance in 1984, Chip embarked on a career in the paper industry with Perry H. Koplik and Sons on Park Avenue in Manhattan. While living in Stamford, CT, Chip met his wife, Linda, and they eventually settled in Kennebunk, ME to raise their family. For the past eleven years, Chip was employed at PackGen Corporation as a Global Alliance Manager and had the opportunity for frequent international travel due to his career.

Chip will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and love for Kennebunk where he was an active member of the community. Chip passed on his love of sports and the outdoors to his three boys as he was a constant presence as a head coach in soccer, assistant coach in baseball and a timer at “endless” swim meets. Affectionately known as “Camp Pearson,” family and friends enjoyed numerous ski trips, tennis and paddle games, kayaking, biking and bonfires at Narragansett Point. Incredible memories were also made each year on Martha’s Vineyard, a tradition that was started by Chip's parents. Chip was also known for his daily swim in the Kennebunk waters during the summer months and walks and playing fetch on the beach with his dog, Bodi. For as active as Chip was, he enjoyed his quiet time gardening and was an avid reader. A member of St. Martha’s parish, Chip joined the Knights of Columbus and served his community through volunteering at the COS Food pantry, Kennebunk Land Trust and always available to help out a neighbor whenever needed.

The family would like to thank Chip’s many friends for their thoughtfulness at this difficult time. We know that Chip’s silent, deep and ever-present faith and love of the Lord will sustain us in the months to come. Due to Covid-19, a funeral Mass will be held privately on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. Those that wish to view the Mass or leave a message of condolence can do so by visiting Chip's Book of Memories page at www.bibberfuneral.com. You will find a link there to the Mass at Saint Martha’s Church, Holy Spirit Parish in Kennebunk, Maine.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Kennebunk Land Trust, 6 Brown Street, Suite 2, Kennebunk, ME 04043 or to WinterKids, 506 Main Street, Suite 10, Westbrook, ME 04092, an organization that Chip and Linda's boys all participated in and were able to experience and develop their love of winter sports around the state.
