Obituary for William C. "Bill" Barry
William C. Barry, 88, passed away April 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. Barry for 62 years. Born in Marblehead, MA, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Cass) Barry. The father of the late Shelagh Nelson, he is survived by his remaining two daughters, Kathleen Harrington and Adrianne Walsh. In addition, he leaves his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill served in the Navy and graduated from Boston College before a decades-long career in the insurance industry.
Remembered for his strong faith in God, Bill was a long-time communicant at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk, Maine. He was the quintessential New England sports fan and especially loved the Boston Bruins. Quick with a pun, Bill had a great sense of humor and never passed up an opportunity for a good laugh, a great meal, or a discussion about politics. Bill and Mary enjoyed many good years after retiring to live in Maine and could often be found enjoying some of Mary’s fine home cooking with family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Martha Church, 30 Portland Road in Kennebunk, ME. Burial will immediately follow the service at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.
