Obituary for Jeffrey Acheson Dowell

Jeffrey A. Dowell, 62, of Wells, died on Friday, December 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Morehead City, NC on November 19, 1955, a son of Gary Jeane and Laura Maher (Acheson) Dowell. Gary was in the military and, as such, Jeffrey grew up in several locales, wherever his father was stationed. In July 1975, Jeffrey and his family moved to Maine and he continued in his father’s footsteps by joining the military, serving honorably in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He was a fire protection specialist, serving on flight line fire crews.

Following his active duty years, Jeffrey began his own business as a handyman and painter.
He began with just a bicycle and tool kit and, over the years, developed into Jeffrey Dowell Services, maintaining several properties in the Wells Beach area.

Jeffrey loved the outdoors, especially enjoying yardwork. Splitting wood was a passion, and he ran his own firewood business. It was not uncommon to see cords and cords of split wood in his yard.

Jeffrey is survived by his son, Joshua Dowell of Richmond Hill, GA; his parents, Gary and Laura Dowell of FL; his brother, Barry Dowell of Spring Hill, FL; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Riley, and Wesley; and his life partner, Donna Lombardo of Wells.

A Graveside committal with military honors will be on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Springvale, ME.
