Obituary for Dorinda Currier Verroust (Viehmann)

Dorinda Currier Verroust (Viehmann)
Cape Porpoise
Dorinda Currier Verroust, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, December 19th at her home in Cape Porpoise with family members at her bedside. Rinda battled ovarian cancer for three and a half years with courage and a “joie de vivre” throughout.

She was born in New Jersey, attended the MacDuffie School for Girls in Springfield, MA and Wells College in Aurora, NY. After college, Rinda spent many of her adult years living in Paris, France and at her summer retreat in Corsica, and always returned to Cape Porpoise for parts of the year. In recent years, Cape Porpoise became more of her permanent home. She loved being with family and by the sea.

She is survived by dear ones Jean Verroust of Paris, France, Thomas Kermes of Cape Porpoise, her twin brother Tony Viehmann and wife Nancy of Cape Porpoise, nephews Stephen LaPalme of Kennebunkport, Daniel Viehmann of Cape Porpoise, and Greg Viehmann of Del Mar, CA; a niece Amy St. John, also of Del Mar, CA, two grand nieces and one grand nephew, close cousin Denis Dignan of Norland, Washington, and many other close cousins and friends worldwide including Danielle Dignan, Stephanie Kermes, and Ruver Fuentes.

A memorial service was held at The Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise on Tuesday, December 23rd. A celebration of her life will take place next summer on the shore in Cape Porpoise. Should friends choose, memorial donations in her name are encouraged to: Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, PO Box 7004, Cape Porpoise, ME 04014. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
