Mary O. Boardman, 87 years, of Wells, ME died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at home in the loving care of her daughters and granddaughter, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born March 30, 1930 in Cambridge, MA, a daughter of William and Margaret (McCarthy) O’Connor. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1947 and attended Salem State Teachers College. After moving to Maine in 1972, Mary worked for several firms in administrative positions including: Sanford News, Batal Insurance Agency and Down East Maine Veterinary Clinic.

Mary loved any time she could spend with her children and grandchildren, family always came first. She will always be remembered as a loving, kind and intelligent woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She had a smile, hug and positive outlook for everyone. She was a beautiful dancer, enjoyed travelling, loved the ocean and had a strong faith in God.

She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Margaret Toomey of Waterboro.

Mary is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her son Ralph Boardman and his wife, Connie, of Penobscot, ME, daughter, Jill Boardman and her husband, Edmund Izzo, of Stowe, VT, son Mark Boardman and his wife, Kelley, of Powell, OH and daughter, Julie Moore and her husband, Richard, of Wells, ME with whom she lived for 22 years, as well as eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, ME. Interment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery in Wells. There are no visiting hours.
