Obituary for June S. Myers (Boston)

June S. Myers (Boston)
Dateline – Kennebunk

June Shirley Boston Long Myers passed away peacefully on 30 June after a several month battle with multiple illnesses. Born on 2 June 1942 to parents Philip and Constance Boston, she grew up in North Berwick. A graduate of Cushing Academy and Chamberlain Junior College, June’s passion was fashion which included being an assistant buyer for Jordan Marsh and Harrison Payne Women’s Departments and even time spent as a wig stylist.

June’s second career matched more closely her role as single mother. She spent nearly 30 years as a teaching assistant at MSAD 71’s Consolidated School in Kennebunkport. Indeed, she enhanced the educational experience of many students and later their children’s as well. Colleagues commented on her wonderful sense of intuition with the kids.

June converted to Catholicism about 10 years ago and was a regular Sunday greeter at St. Martha’s. She was a bright spot in any weather, always upbeat and positive. Those who knew her best speak of her tremendous spirit of unconditional love and support.

June is survived by her adoring daughter, Dr. Heather Long Vandevoorde, son-in-law Gilles and their two daughters Lolita and Jania, as well as her brother and sister-in-law David and Carol Boston, and two step-sons, Nick and Pat Myers along with their wives and four children.

A celebration of her life will be held late in July. For more information, please contact heather@vdvoorde.com.

June was an animal lover. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Safe Haven PO Box 91 Wells, ME 04090.
