Obituary for Jonathan I Briggs

Jonathan  I  Briggs
Wells, ME and Springfield, MA

Jonathan Briggs , 57 years, a resident of Wells ME, died peacefully Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford following a period of declining health.

Jonathan was born in York on January 19, 1961, a son of Cecil E. and Mabelle Winifred (Brooks) Briggs, and graduated from Wells High School, class of 1979.

He began his culinary career working at the Bluewater and Dunelawn Restaurants in Ogunquit, before moving to Springfield, MA, where he worked for over 30 years, primarily as a manager for McDonalds.

He was a member of Mt Orthodox Lodge AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Westfield MA and Melha Shrine Temple in Springfield, MA.

Jonathan loved to fish, peruse yard sales and strike a good deal, could always be found at the beach or Wells Harbor, and loved to go clamming, and created peaceful areas in his back yard with his flower gardens and beautiful waterfall.

He was predeceased by wife Nancy Frenier Briggs, who died in 2017, his father, Cecil E. Briggs, Jr., and his brother, David Brooks.

Survivors include his mother Mabelle Winifred Briggs, a brother Travis Briggs, sisters Mona Marie Harriman and Patricia Briggs Casey, all of Wells, two step children Tina Cory-Frenier and Mark Frenier, both of Springfield, MA six step grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Jonathans life will be held 2-4PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk, ME, with a Masonic Memorial Service at 4 PM.
