Obituary for Floyd Sidney Dickson Jr.

Floyd Sidney  Dickson Jr.
Floyd S. Dickson Jr., age 85 of Barrington, New Hampshire passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He died from complications of heart surgery.
Born July 13, 1930 in Hackettstown, New Jersey, Floyd was the second child of the late Floyd Sidney, Sr. and Grace M. Dickson. Floyd graduated from Hackettstown High School, Hackettstown, New Jersey in 1950, and entered the Air Force. During his first tour of duty, he served in Korea and was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. During his military career, he was stationed in France, Germany and England, and received many more awards and recognition for his exemplary service to our country. He officially retired from active service in July of 1975, was employed as an electrician, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Franklin Pierce College.
He enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks, and had an affinity for antiques and recycled treasures. Floyd was a world traveler, and loved to share stories of his adventures.

He is survived by seven children; Margaret (Dennis) Severson of Thornton, CO; Pamela (Buck) Beaver of Conifer, CO; Cynthia (David) Clark of Aurora, CO; Linda (Ralph) Barr of South Berwick, ME; Floyd S. Dickson III (Brigid) of Covington, LA; Carolyn (Bob) Houston and Curtis F. Dickson, Wells, ME; and 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sister Ruby (Bill) Reyna; brother Emerson (Evie) Dickson and brother Wayne E. (Marlene) Dickson. He is preceded in death by his wife Irene Dickson and former spouse and mother of Floyd's seven children, Rosa M. Dickson, parents Floyd and Grace Dickson Sr. and grandson Matthew Warner.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, February 10, 1016 from 6-8 pm at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish - St. Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, Maine 04090. Committal service with military honors will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells, ME.
