Obituary for Gail June Tanner
BIDDEFORD Gail June Tanner, 56, a resident of Union St, formerly of Kennebunk, died November 26, 2014 at Southern Maine HealthCare in Biddeford following a brief illness.
Gail was born in Biddeford June 16, 1958, the daughter of Charles Victor and Shirley Elizabeth Mewer Tanner. She is a graduate of Kennebunk High School, class of 1976, and received her associates degree in accounting from University of Southern Maine in 1984.
She was employed locally with the former Andrew’s Enterprises and Kesslen Shoe Shop in Kennebunk, Walmart in Sanford, and for the past 7 years Kohl’s in Biddeford.
Gail had an affinity for her pet cat and felt deeply her loss upon it’s passing.
She was a communicant of St. Martha's Church in Kennebunk, attending Mass as often as she could, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her quite time. Active in town, she was a former member of the Kennebunk Lion’s Club, serving as head lion, and was known around town as the candy lady, for all the Lion’s Club candy dispensers she managed for the club.
She is predeceased by her parents, and sister Mary Tanner.
Survivors include her brother Charles V Tanner III of Portland, a sister Elizabeth Goodwin of Greer, SC, and five nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10 AM Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Biddeford.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Mary Tanner Foundation, PO Box 793, Kennebunk, ME. 04043.
Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
