Condolences

Condolence From: Shay Reidy
Condolence: My friend’s father, a hard-working presence in his home-office, an easy smile and interested listener around the dinner table, good-humored, quick-witted, an intellect as powerful as my own Physicist dad’s, I sensed—Dick Sharood personified Maine for me. His eyes as profoundly and beautifully deep and vibrant as the Maine ocean. Like some sea captain scanning the horizon, he scanned the faces of those he came in contact with, deftly dealing with whatever arose.

What seems to me so telling about this man of faith and family, however, is his ability to accept the vicissitudes of life. From his hometown roots to metro D.C. and then to Maine—he allowed life to unfold, without fighting the ups and downs, it seemed to me from afar. Most of all, from their longtime, beautiful, spacious home on Grove Street to smaller retirement accommodations, he found good, not regret. How wonderful to hear him and his wife find pleasure in being thrown together much more closely in their work space! That alone speaks of a very deep and patient love! Their evident joy and happiness in each other’s presence says the rest.

Blessings on this good man of God and his family. May you ever keep his kindly and generous spirit alive and well in your hearts. Amen.

Condolence: Eddie "Brokk" Sharood, the only one I know, this is Zack from Home Depot, Kennebunk PD, and riding motorcycles. So sorry to learn of your father's passing. May he rest in peace, and I wish you and your entire family peace during this time.

Condolence: Dick was such a fine, fine man. I was very relieved to hear he went so peacefully and feel he has certainly now taken his place in heaven. I read Julia's beautiful tribute to her father. I want to add that he was an equally outstanding boss and friend.

Dick and Barbara have a wonderful family and throughout their lives have made that their top priority. My prayer to God is please be with Dick in his new role, and please look over Barbara and their wonderful family.

Condolence: We are sorry for your loss. Dick was one of the first people we met after starting Mail-It in 1989. He was great friend and always a pleasure to talk with. He was very supportive of us. Cherish your memories. We will all miss him.
