Obituary for William Lincoln Gooch Jr.
William L. Gooch Jr. died on 4/10/2020, peacefully, after a long illness at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough at the age of 85. Bill was born on Nov. 3. 1934 to William, Sr. and Isabelle Gooch in Kennebunk, Maine. He attended Kennebunk schools and was an outstanding athlete in football, baseball, and basketball earning all-conference in all three sports. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S Air Force and continued his sporting career, playing against several military bases in all three sports. Between his Air Force service and guards, he had over 20 years of service.
Bill came back to Maine and held several jobs from selling beer and wine to bartending. He was an avid golfer at Biddeford Saco Country Club. He was often seen running and playing in the “The Gooch” open held weekly at the club until his health started to decline in 2014.
He is survived by his five children; Kimberly Holeski, Jeffrey Gooch, Janet Miller, Michael Gooch, and William Gooch III.
Following Bill’s wishes, there will be no services.
